My Travel Story

by: Elias Droz Start Date: Feb 18, 2015 - End Date: May 18, 2015
For 2 weeks this summer I would like to volunteer to help with a variety of conservation projects abroad. I will be traveing with a globally recognized agency called Projects Abroad. The project I am interested in includes the protection of the rare Olive Ridley Turtle, native crocodiles, and other wild life.  This volunteer trip will help me develp and broaden my current skills as a volunteer and as a global citizen. This project will also bring what I've learned in many of my science courses to life. It will provide me with hands on experience, which is not normally accessible to those of us who grow up in the inner cities.

Currently, I volunteer regulary at a local senior center, but I am really interested in helping in other ways while simultaneously allowing myself to see past my very small corner of the world.

I ask for your support because there is a significant cost associated with traveling to the conservation site in Mexico and participating in this program. I will be surrounded by fellow volunteers that are offering their time to not only help these animals but also to help students like myself develop the skills necessary to assist them.

I thank you in advance for any assistance you are able to provide.
