My Travel Story

As a double major (English and Education) every semester is necessary and every class greatly impacts the chance of me being able to complete both degrees within the time alotted and by extension my future as a teacher. The London program would allow for me to take two classes in one summer session that apply to my primary degree which would end up with me only having one more class required to fulfill those requirements. I am unsure that I will be able to find two classes that will fulfill my requirements if I stay at home and it will be hard on my car (and me) to commute from Pasadena to Riverside every day, which would be necessary in the shortened summer session. The London program also offers a lot of experiences that I have always wanted to do, including the Jack the Ripper Walking Tour and the Sherlock Holmes Museum. This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity and I would really like to take advantage of it. Unfortunately I am unsure that I will be able to afford it with only my financial aide and my small part time jobs, so I will have to borrow money or do the program on a installment plan if I cannot get the funding needed. Any donation would be helpful (as that is less that I have to borrow) and greatly appreciated.

  • The Program Is A Go!

The program is a go. I'm turning in the final paperwork this coming week. Now I just need to come up with the money. I found out my estimated student aid for the summer quarter and with my savings I'm about $1500 short. I have applied to scholarships and will continue to do so. I am also applying to a part time position as a tutor on campus. I'm doing all I can to earn a bit of money and anything you can contribute is so greatly appreciated.
  • Got My Fall Grades!

    Got my Fall Grades!
In order to do the quarter abroad I am required to remain in good standing, which isn't really a concern honestly. That being said, this is my first quarter at a big university so I was a bit nervous about my grades. Mostly because I am terrified that my GPA will drop below a 3.0. Today I found out that I received a B, B+ and an A. That means my GPA for this quarter is a 3.5. I am quite pleased and I'm really looking forward to next quarter when I will be taking Shakespeare History, Asian American Lit, History of Science Fiction, and Abnormal Psychology for Educators. It's going to be a great year!
