My Travel Story

by: Jack Ancell Start Date: Jun 26, 2016 - End Date: Apr 29, 2017
I am fundraising for a charity school trip volunteering in Kenya in August 2017. The trip is run by African Adventures and promises to be an amazing and rewarding trip of a lifetime. Whilst there I will work at schools with children from underprivileged communities in Nakuru - providing teaching assistance and getting involved with construction and renovation work to build new classrooms and school facilities. I am looking forward to making a positive difference to the community I will be working in while I am out there.

The cost of the trip is £2200 and I have been busy fundraising already. So far I have washed cars, held an afternoon tea party, packed bags at a supermarket, have done a car boot sale and I'm putting my paper round money towards the fund too. So far I have raised £1100 so I am halfway there already! (Updated total below 10/7/16 and again 25/9/16)

I have various other events planned and one of them is a Sponsored Triathlon.
On Sunday 11th September I will be "Cycling the Island" (from Hilsea Lido to Gunwharf Quays), "Walking the Coast" (from Gunwharf Quays to Eastney Swimming Pool) and "Swimming the Solent" (swimming 100 lengths of Eastney Swimming Pool, a distance equal to swimming to the IOW).

I would really appreciate it if you could sponsor me and help me reach my target.

Thank you

Jack

  • I Have Reached My Target! 25th September 2016

It's been a busy few months, I've been washing more cars, packing more supermarket bags, and car booting. Then on Sunday 11th September I completed the triathalon. Thanks to those who sponsored me on here and offline I raised an amazing £625! Then on Saturday 24th September I ran a quiz night with a friend and we raised a total of £745- so that was another £372.50 added to my total!
All in all this means I have smashed my £2200 target and raised
    £2724.33!!!
I will use the extra money to pay for the immunisations I need to have prior to the trip and will purchase items to take with me to donate to the community I will be working with in Nakuru.
I would like to thank everyone for their support.
  • A New Total! 10th July 2016

So, having added some bits and bobs to the total, including the profits from a second car boot sale I did yesterday the new total is £1249!!
