My Travel Story

Hi everyone! As many of you may know, I am currently pursuing my Master of Education in School Counseling at NC State University. I am deeply passionate about supporting students, advocating for equitable access to education, and building communities where every learner feels seen, valued, and safe.

Studying abroad in Germany has been a dream of mine since high school. I have always been fascinated by the country’s history, culture, and commitment to democracy and human rights. This year, I finally took the first step toward that dream. About a month ago, I began learning German so that I can build my language skills before traveling and connect more meaningfully with the people and places I will encounter. It has been exciting, challenging, and incredibly rewarding, and it makes this opportunity feel even more special.

In the summer of 2026 I have the chance to take part in a transformative study abroad program titled Germany: Learning for Democracy and Social Change. This program brings graduate students to Augsburg, Munich, Nuremberg, and Dachau to explore how history, civic engagement, and social justice shape modern democratic societies.

As a future school counselor, this experience will strengthen my ability to serve diverse students and families. The program connects directly to my work and future goals by helping me:

• understand global perspectives on democracy, inclusion, and human rights
• deepen my knowledge of how communities respond to oppression and rebuild trust
• examine refugee support, social systems, and policies through an international lens
• learn alongside German graduate students and participate in meaningful cross cultural conversations
• connect historical events such as the Holocaust, the rise of fascism, and the fight for human rights to present day issues that impact students and families

During our time in Germany, we will visit historically significant sites including the Dachau concentration camp, the Nuremberg Rally Grounds and Trials Museum, the Augsburg Goldener Saal, and many other important locations connected to the fight for justice and democratic values. These experiences will help me better support the students I serve, especially those who have been impacted by trauma, immigration stress, discrimination, or systemic inequities.

The program cost is $3,125 , not including airfare and personal expenses. Any contribution, no matter the size, helps make this opportunity possible. Your support allows me to grow as a counselor and bring back knowledge, compassion, and insight that I can share with my future students, my community, and my work in educational equity.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read, support, or share my campaign! I am truly grateful for your generosity as I work toward achieving a dream I have held for so many years and becoming a stronger and more compassionate school counselor.

If you have any questions or would like updates, I would be happy to share more about my journey!
