My Travel Story

Dear Friends and Supporters,
I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been accepted into a volunteer program in Greece – Athens, through International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ), where I will be working directly with refugee and migrant youth through education, art, and community support.

Why This Matters to Me
As someone who grew up in Asia, I’ve always been deeply curious about Europe—its history, culture, and diverse people. But what truly draws me to this project is my lifelong dream of becoming a teacher. I hope to dedicate my future to improving education in underdeveloped regions of China, and I believe this experience will help me grow into a more compassionate and globally minded educator.

Coming from a single-parent family, I understand the impact of support and opportunity. Now, I hope to give back by supporting young people who are rebuilding their lives after conflict and displacement.

Why Greece?
Greece has become home to many refugees and migrants seeking safety from war and crisis. In Athens, many youth are still navigating trauma, separation from family, and uncertainty about their future. Through this program, I’ll be part of a team offering them a safe, welcoming space to learn, play, and heal—whether through sports, arts, language practice, or simply listening.

What I’ll Be Doing
As a volunteer with IVHQ’s Refugee Support Program, I’ll:

Lead informal English lessons for refugee youth
Assist with sports and fitness sessions, helping promote health and confidence
Support creative workshops, such as music, photography, and drama
Help at a local gym and social centers that provide free services to refugees
Foster a safe, fun environment for personal expression and skill-sharing

To make this dream a reality, I’m hoping to raise $3,500, which will go toward:

IVHQ program fees (including housing, meals, and in-country support)
International flights
Travel insurance and visa costs
