My Travel Story

I am leaving for Costa Rica in about 45 days to volunteer in the capital city of San Jose as an experienced healthcare worker. I hope to bring much needed help to the elderly people of San Jose through my service in an adult rehabilitation center in the city. I've tended to the needs of the critically ill in the US through my work in the operating room, icu and rapid response team and would like to give to the critically ill people in Costa Rica the best that I can. This experience will help me become a better physician assistant in acute care as a plan to apply and start a physical assistant program in the US. I chose Costa Rica because of my knowledge of Spanish and the proximity of Costa Rica to my hometown while also being a culturally diverse country that will deepen my understanding of healthcare outside of the US. I am very excited to embrace the healthcare system of a country other than my own and to gain knowledge of some of the different ways to treat critically ill patients. I appreciate your interest in and support of this very meaningful volunteer opportunity I am taking. Thank you.
