My Travel Story

Hi, My name is Naiyim. I play soccer for a Bronx travel team named Alba FC, and for my school’s modified team as captain. I have been playing soccer since I was 4yrs old. My grandpa and I would play in his backyard, and when I would watch matches with him, I wanted to join a team.

I have an opportunity to attend an IMG ACADEMY CAMP during my school’s spring break. This camp will help me improve all different aspects of my game, like passing, shooting, dribbling, and even technical stuff. This camp has shaped so many good soccer players, they develop kids just like me to get better at doing the sport they love.

I have done a lot to prepare for this camp, I have gone to many training sessions during the week, the weekend and even with my friends. During soccer’s off season I run indoor track for my school, so I don’t get out of breath when I’m on the soccer field for spring.

IMG Academy is famous for their incredible Athletic program and Athletic facilities, they first started out as a Tennis school, then they expanded to other sports and has become the nations number one student-athlete high school.

Recent grads from IMG were drafted in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft, ( MLS stands for Major League Soccer. It is the professional league of the United States) there players include Hosei Kijima who graduated from IMG in 2020, Nathan Richmond who graduated in 2022, Ruben Mesalles who graduated in 2021.

The other camps I have gone to were too babyish, all we would do was play games and not really focus on getting better, more focused on having fun, but IMG does not do that. People who go there go to get better, faster, and stronger, and I want to do the same.

I really want to go to this camp, but it is VERY expensive. IMG is in Florida and it would be the first time I will go on an airplane by myself and staying in a dorm. I will be away from my family and friends, but I’m excited to meet new people and learn new skills. The donations I would receive would go to confirming my spot in the camp, airfare, transportation, room and food for the week, uniform, equipment and any other stuff I need for the camp.
