Desperately trying to get home
My Travel Story
My Derick, I am 56 years old and I am from Cape Town in South Africa.
On 11 March 2020 I left South Africa to come and visit my daughter who had immigrated to Panama Central America in 2019.
I arrived in Panama on 13 March for a period of 23 days.
During the course of my stay the Corona virus pandemic worsened throughout the world and the Panamanian government introduced very strict lockdown rules including the closing of all borders.
I was due to fly back to South Africa on 6 April 2020 but due to the spread of the Corona virus, I was unable to as my flight was cancelled.
At the same time, I was contacted by my company in South Africa to advise me that I have been retrenched due to the impact the coronavirus has had on them and the necessary restructuring which they have implemented.
Currently the Panamanian government has extended the closure of all its borders until 22 June 2020 and this may continue into August 2020 I have heard.
I have been left with no choice to inquire about repatriation flights back to South Africa as I desperately need to return home.
The costs of these flights I have noted is exceptionally expensive. eg. R35000 (South African Rand).
I unfortunately do not have the required amount of money for the repatriation flight and I have decided, out of desperation, to seek funding through this platform.
I appeal to everybody who reads my message to please consider helping me so that I can return home soon.
I thank you and it would be very much appreciated from the bottom of my heart.
With thanks
Derick
