My Travel Story

Hi! My name is Georgia. I'm currently undertaking year 12 and am planning to spend my schoolies trip in Borneo doing community work in remote jungle villages, supporting children's education and conservation activities!

During my time in the beautiful country of Borneo, I will be working directly with the indigenous jungle villages around Kuching, Miri or Kota Kinabalu, where children who speak their own dialect struggle with the Malaysian language and need support with transitioning to the Malaysian speaking education system. It will primarily involve helping to repair schools, churches, community halls and outdoor play areas, as well as assisting in replanting mangrove areas and new vegetable gardens. Your donations will assist in the children's education as it means they don't need to worry about helping with these tasks and instead can focus on studying for their transition to the new education system.

I was particularly attracted to Borneo as the work I will be doing encompasses many issues I am passionate about such as supporting local villages, improving the educational opportunities offered to children and the environmental conservation work helping orangutan rehabilitation.

Having never been a party animal, I was not keen on the typical schoolies experience, hence why this opportunity to use this time to make an impact and give back to those who need it, is so important and exciting for me.

Your support is appreciated by not only myself, but also by the antipodeans team striving to inspire young people like myself, to be community and globally conscious. Thank you very much :)
