This study abroad program will provide me with a unique opportunity to enhance my education and future career as a nurse. By gaining insights into global healthcare practices, especially those focused on evidence-based practices in the UK, I will broaden my understanding of patient-centered care. This experience will sharpen my clinical judgment, cultural competence, and decision-making skills, key assets for providing high-quality, compassionate care as a nurse. Through this program, I plan to immerse myself in community service while learning. By interacting with different communities and healthcare systems, I will contribute to enhancing the quality of care and patient experiences. My cultural background and unique perspective will also allow me to connect with people in diverse settings, bridging gaps and providing a voice for underrepresented groups. I aim to bring back new knowledge and insights that will help me make a difference in my community. I am passionate about this project because it aligns directly with my dedication to nursing and my desire to expand my worldview. Growing up as a first-generation immigrant and the oldest sibling, I've always felt the weight of responsibility to lead by example. My passion for helping others and the opportunity to learn from different cultures and healthcare practices excites me. This program will help me grow as a nurse and a person, strengthening my ability to provide patient-centered care with compassion and competence. I chose the United Kingdom because of its rich history, diverse culture, and healthcare system, which has long been a model of innovation in the medical field. The UK provides an ideal environment to study evidence-based practice, offering opportunities to learn from healthcare professionals and gain firsthand experience in a variety of healthcare settings. This destination allows me to not only immerse myself in a new culture but also expand my nursing knowledge through direct engagement with global healthcare practices. This program is meaningful to me because it combines my passion for nursing with my love for travel and learning about different cultures. As a first-generation immigrant and the oldest sibling, I carry the responsibility of being a role model. This opportunity allows me to grow both academically and personally, gaining knowledge that will directly impact my nursing career. Experiencing different healthcare systems will enhance my ability to care for patients in the future while also helping me overcome personal biases and grow as a compassionate, competent nurse.
