A small group of Assignment Coordinators in both Florida and North Carolina have teamed up together to go on an exciting journey while simultaneously making an impact in the community. All International Volunteer Head Quarter Programs across the globe are run by local nonprofit organizations.

IVHQ’s Marine Conservation project is based in Omiš, Croatia. As a Marine Conservation volunteer, we will be helping a local diving school to restore and maintain the natural state of the marine ecosystem around the seacoast. This project will add value to the local community, while also developing ourselves personally and professionally as a team by:

·        Repairing and maintaining marine ecosystems.

·        Protecting marine biodiversity and reducing pollution.

·        Collecting marine debris from the sea and logging information about items collected.

·        Learning about the marine environment and how to protect it.

·        Observing and identifying fish and other marine life.

The ocean regulates and drives global systems that make the Earth habitable for humankind. Marine biodiversity is critical to the health of people and our planet. Preserving threatened ecosystems, as well as tackling marine pollution and overfishing through conservation activities is key to saving our ocean.

With an estimated total cost of $2850 per person, any financial assistance would be greatly appreciated.This program attracts a Registration Fee of $329, Program Fee of $995, and an estimated cost of $1k for a round trip flight per person, and $500 for a diving certification. The Program Fee covers the cost of hosting us on an IVHQ program and gives back to the local community, as it is directly invested into locally driven initiatives and employment opportunities for local people.  

This is an incredible opportunity for our group of Assignment Coordinators, and we hope to inspire others to take advantage their VTO and all it has to offer. Not only will this volunteer trip help the community and environment, but it will also help us grow our relationships, meet co-workers we’ve never met in person (NC and FL offices!), and give us an incredible life experience we may not have been able to accomplish on our own.
