My Travel Story

Hello friends! This August I will be traveling to Scotland for a 3 week study abroad trip through my Master's program in Counselor Education! This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity for me, and one that I have been looking forward to for years.

If you know me, you probably know that during my undergrad studies I was set up to do a Study Abroad for a semester, but I chose to cancel the trip when my mother was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer shortly before the trip was to take place. I have never once regretted my decision to spend the time with her, but I have always hoped that one day I would be able to have the experience of study abroad. So this trip will be fulfilling a much-belated dream that up until recently I thought may never happen.

This will also give me the opportunity to do something that I have put off for far too long, spread some of my mother's ashes. She was a beautiful soul, who loved nature more than anyone I've ever known, yet got to see far too little of this beautiful world. I think she would love the idea of getting to make the trip to Scotland with me, and for part of her to be at rest in such a beautiful place.

As anyone who is trying to work while going to school may know, money can be really tight. I have luckily been able to take out a student loan that will help with part of the expense of the trip, but it will be a -struggle- to not only be able to afford the opportunity, but also to account for the work I will miss while being overseas. So as you may expect, it would mean the world to me to have help to make these dreams a reality.

So, if you would like to help me achieve my dream of studying abroad, or to help spread my mother's ashes in a beautiful place she only dreamed of going, I would be forever grateful for the help.
