My Travel Story
My name is Vernese Best and I am an undergraduate student at South University, majoring in Criminal Justice. I am currently a junior, making all A's & B's with a 3.4 GPA and was inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars! Due to my outstanding academic achievements, I was invited to study or intern abroad this summer.
I am privileged to have this life changing opportunity of interning abroad in Lisbon, Portugal this summer. The internship that I have secured will allow me to be working hands-on with battered women and children. I'll be travelling to different hospitals, and shelters working alongside nurses, cops, volunteers, and other interns.
This opportunity is both personal and professionally rewarding. Personally, I have always had a passion for wanting to help those in need and changing the world by small acts of kindness. I love people and I love helping people! Professionally, this opportunity would build my confidence, give me a global perspective, and competitive edge in the job market.
I am asking my family, friends, and community to join me on this adventure of a lifetime. By supporting me, you will be making a difference in my education and affirming that dreams do come true.
MY GOAL: I am wanting to raise $3,000 to cover my flight , food, and room& board. I have been and will continue to apply for scholarships and working hard to cover any additional costs.
I am committed to being an example for my family members, friends and community. I want to show them that they can succeed no matter what obstacles are thrown their way! I believe that with God, all things are possible!
