My Travel Story

Hi, my name is Nicole and I’m raising money to fund my volunteering trip to Kenya.

Here’s a brief explanation of the volunteering program from the International Volunteer HQ website:
”Classes at schools in Kenya can be large and under-resourced. Teaching volunteers provide invaluable support by lightening the load for local staff and contributing to the education of the students. International volunteers are sought after as teachers for their ability to introduce different languages, cultures and ideas to students who may not otherwise have had the opportunity to learn about them.”

By spending just a week in Nairobi, supporting teaching, I hope to not only improve my experience within education, but also my communication skills when working with children from different cultures and backgrounds. My ultimate goal is to become a Speech and Language Therapist, so working with children who may not have the same access to such therapies would be hugely beneficial for my learning, but also means I have a small chance to support those children - if only for a week!

However, a trip such as this one can become quite costly when you add in program fees and flights. Unfortunately, this is not something I can fund on my own. So, I’m asking for your help! Just a small donation towards my funding goal would mean the world and is a massive step towards my volunteering journey.

I am hoping to embark on my trip in August 2023 and with your help I can achieve this date!
