My Travel Story

The year was 1943, two years after Germany invaded Ukraine, my mom’s arrival into this war-torn world brough love and joy into a home that was in desperate need of it. Losing her mom and dad at an early age my mom, Olga, lived a hard life bouncing from one foster home to another. The aftermath of WW2 made it even more difficult to find food and shelter. Her Jewish community was destroyed, and she felt immense hurt for the families that never made it back from the concentration camps. She never understood the deep connection with the Jewish people until just recently when we did a DNA test which confirmed what she suspected her whole life, that her lineage comes from Ashkenazi Jews.

This knowledge and life-long longing to be around her people intensified and at one point she finally told me that her one and only dream would be to visit Israel. Even though I did not have any money, I promised her that I will somehow find a way to take her to Israel.

My mom is 77 years old, and with each passing year her health is deteriorating, and I am afraid that soon, she might not be able to travel at all. I would love to accompany her to Israel and make her wish come true.

This trip would mean a world to her, and I would love nothing more than to experience the land of our ancestors together with the most amazing person in the world, my mom.
