Having developed a passion to study animals in their natural habitat from a young age, the opportunity to be part of a research project on the Phinda reserve will not only push me out of my comfort zone, having never travelled alone before, but will also be an incredible experience. The skills that I would gain from this trip I would hope to use in the future as a budding Zoologist.

The project will involve monitoring and researching individuals across the reserve as well as some specialist work such as Rhino dehorning, critical for the prevention of rhino hunting, and relocation of both Black and White Rhinos.

I chose this project as it will allow me to experience a research based project whilst also being involved in other aspects of protection of wildlife and the management of a reserve.
