My name is Gaamangwe Bogosibong, and I’m raising funds for a deeply personal journey focused on cultural immersion and exchange across two foundational East Asian nations: South Korea and China. My goal is to spend three dedicated weeks immersed in these societies—not as a tourist, but as a guest focused on genuine, mutual learning. I am passionate about this project because I believe that direct engagement with these unique cultures will build critical bridges of understanding between Botswana and the dynamic histories of the Far East. This is about experiencing daily life, traditions, and perspectives completely new to me, from the fast-paced innovation of Seoul to the enduring historical customs of Beijing.
Making a Difference Through Dual Exchange
The purpose of this trip is to facilitate a two-way cultural exchange that highlights both common ground and unique identity.
In Korea, I plan to focus on understanding the rapid modernization, the influence of K-culture, and the preservation of historical practices like temple life or traditional Hanok villages.
In China, I will seek out opportunities to explore the vast linguistic and culinary diversity, engage with local arts, and understand the deep philosophical traditions that have shaped this region for millennia.
In every interaction, I will share the rich culture and perspectives of my home country, Botswana, fostering personal, human relationships that bridge cultural gaps and promote global understanding. I plan to capture these shared human experiences through simple journaling and photography to share this message of connection when I return.
