My Travel Story

by: Ariel Gazarian-Cherne Start Date: Oct 16, 2013 - End Date: Jan 31, 2014

I will be taking Marine Biology, Oceanography and Nautical Science courses and will earn my International Sailing Certification and PADI Open water Certification on a sailboat. The program goes from Singapore to South Africa in a course of 90 days, in which we will be stopping at a few places along the way, learning the culture and way's of life in the area, taking in life lessons, then boarding the boat again and sailing our way to the next location. This is how I am spending my Gap Year in between High School and College, and will be very important for my area of study and future. I strongly believe in preserving and portecting the Enviornment and this porgram fully embraces that. My ultimate and achievable goal in life is to be a signifigant figure in saving the environment and doing everything I can for the Oceans health and revival. This Study Abroad program will advance my studies and be very benificial for not only myself, but the environment.

The picture above is from the Marine Life and Environment Conservation Project I did in the Dominican Republic this summer for 2 weeks. We did beach clean ups, mangrove planting, constructed coral reef habitats, taught some educational summer camp activities for kids, and much more, charted dolphin migrations and more.
