Bridging Boston to Britain: Empowering a First-Time Journey
My Travel Story
I am contacting you with a sincere appeal to assist me in realizing an aspiration that possesses the potential to significantly influence my educational journey, professional development, and contributions to my community. As a young woman hailing from Boston, I am undertaking a dual degree in economics BA and international relations MA at UMass Boston, and I have been presented with the exceptional opportunity to study abroad in Oxford, England. A location that carries substantial academic and cultural importance for me.
I am grateful for the support I have received from the University of Massachusetts Boston. Their financial assistance has significantly helped me during my time here. Given my family circumstances, I would not have been able to attend university without the grants, FAFSA aid, and scholarships for which I worked diligently.
This journey represents much more than a trip to a foreign country; it will help me understand better the international systems that I study and try to influence. England is one of the central hubs for international diplomacy and plays a leading role in addressing the critical global challenges of immigration and sustainable development. From the halls of Westminster to the libraries of Oxford, this destination will offer me unparalleled access to the institutions and ideas that have shaped our modern world. I'm thrilled to study the tutorials of International Law and Britain and the EU; the European Parliament.
My excitement for the project is born out of my desire to pursue law and potentially politics. From working on initiatives in Senator of Second Suffolk County Boston Massachusetts' Liz Miranda's office. I have committed myself to challenging inequity and uplifting underrepresented voices in Suffolk County. This trip will give me the opportunity to see how England tackles similar issues, offering both inspiration and tools that I can adapt to drive change at home.
Going to England is a very personal big deal for me. It will be my first time out of the country, and besides the academic milestone, it also means overcoming certain barriers that have long appeared insurmountable. I have chosen England because of its deep historical contributions to innovation, its role in the development of modern economics, and its active position in addressing global issues that are close to my heart and of course my professional aspirations in international law and policy.
This opportunity is very important to me because it is a step towards my bigger goal: using my educational background and experiences to act as a liaison between international ideas and grassroots efforts. Your support will not only empower me but also empower those whose voices I will carry because I return home with new perspectives and ideas to share with my community.
I appreciate how you reflected on my experiences and the profound effect your kindness may set in motion. I will be able to take this life-altering action, through your assistance, and use it to create an ongoing impact.
Sincerely,
Victoria R. Trainor
