My Travel Story

I want to celebrate my 65th birthday in Egypt!
Like most people I have a bucket list and going to Egypt has been at the top of that list for a while. This birthday is very sentimental for me because my mother only lived to 64, her mother didn't live to see 41 and her grandmother didn't live to see 42. The reason I want to go this year is to celebrate breaking the cycle. They all suffered with heart disease, had heart attacks and strokes. The year that my mother passed away, my doctor told me that I could be at risk of heart disease based on my family history and that I needed to make healthy changes.

Being a divorced mother of 5, I slowly started making changes. I eventually cleaned up my diet, became physically active and worked hard on reducing stress. Unfortunately, that didn't last long. Two years ago, I regained consciousness in an ambulance and was told that I hit an 18-wheel truck, spun around on the highway, jumped the median and hit a tree so hard that my new car caught on fire. My right leg was broken, my left ankle was broken, my right thumb was broken, and I had to have staples in my head. Needless to say, I went into deep depression and gained over 20 pounds while recovering. 14 months later I was riding on the local city bus, since I no longer drive, and a women hit the bus so hard that the windshield of the bus shattered. This accident has left me with pinched nerves in my left shoulder that hinders the use of my left hand and of course I'm left-handed. No, there wasn’t a big settlement because the woman had no-fault insurance and the bus company said since she was at fault they were not responsible. What her insurance paid didn’t even cover my emergency room bill.

I haven't been able to work for the last two years due to having covid twice and these accidents just haven't allowed me to heal. Recently applied for social security and went into an even deeper depression when I found out what I would be getting. When I learned about this study tour, I began to have hope. In college I wanted to study archaeology but was told that I wouldn't be able to get a good paying job unless I had a PHD which I couldn’t afford. This study tour is my opportunity to get as close to archaeology as humanly possible for me. Your donation can help make this possible. No donation is too small, and all donations are greatly appreciated! https://tri.ps/w0Bva is the website that tells all about the study tour, where we will go, what we will learn and the price per person, not including the flights to meet up with the group. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this. Peace & Blessings!
