Hi! My name is Rokia, and I’m a pre-health student at the University of South Florida (USF) with a lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian. Animals have always been my passion, Animals have always been my passion, and I’ve already had the privilege of rescuing over three horses (one of them a small pony), one cat, and two dogs. Now, I want to take my love for animals a step further by volunteering at a wolf conservation center in Portugal—but I need your help to make it happen!

Why This Project Matters to Me
Growing up, I was fascinated by wolves—not just because of their beauty but because of the essential role they play in ecosystems. Unfortunately, many wolves in Portugal are unable to survive in the wild due to captivity or habitat loss. Volunteering at this conservation center is a way for me to combine my love for animals and my career aspirations, all while giving back to a species that desperately needs protection.

This opportunity also allows me to gain hands-on experience that will shape my future as a veterinarian. From feeding wolves to restoring their habitat, I’ll be contributing to their well-being while learning about wildlife conservation in a real-world setting.

What Will I Be Doing?
During my time at the center, I’ll be working alongside experienced staff to:
• Feed the wolves and ensure their daily care.
• Monitor their behavior to better understand their needs.
• Restore their environment by removing invasive plants and replanting native species.
• Maintain and improve the facility to ensure a safe and enriching habitat.

This is more than just physical work; it’s about creating a brighter future for these incredible animals.
