Dream Vacation - Japan/World Travel Fund
My Travel Story
TLDR: I'm approaching my 40th birthday in a couple of years. Japan has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember and I'm hoping to save/raise enough to visit in 2026/2027. If I'm able to save/raise enough money I would like to turn it into a multi-country vacation.
Let me introduce myself. My name is David, I'm 38 and live in Glasgow, Scotland. I currently work full time for an environmental planning consultancy. I'm not married, and live alone. When I'm not working I enjoy playing games on my computer, watching tv, going for walks (around the city and up hills), playing my guitar, cooking/baking and generally trying to stay somewhat fit. I've also just started trying to learn Japanese, along with a small number of European languages, which is slow going as I've never been great at picking up new languages. I'm also the shy introverted type and don't have any friends.
The reason I have set up this fund my travel campaign is that I have always wanted to travel and see the world, particularly Japan. I'm hoping to save and raise enough to fulfil my travel dreams for my 40th birthday and see the world in 2026/27. Even though I have a full time job, after bills and groceries I have little left over to save or spend to treat myself.
Now on to what I would like to do on my travels. Nothing is set in stone as there are many places I want to see. I'm particularly interested in heading north to Sapporo and sightseeing around Japan's northern island. If time and costs allow, a trip to Disneyworld or Universal Studios may also be on the cards, among other explorations of the Tokyo/Osaka areas. Southeast Asia in general is a place I would love to visit and explore if given the chance. Australia, New Zealand and Canada are also on my vacation bucket list, and it would be a dream come true to be able to visit all these places in one extended trip.
My ideas and plans are still in flux and certainly not set in stone. If this dream trip has the potential to become real, then I will start properly researching and planning an itinerary.
On to the expected cost of my dream vacation.
From a very rough calculation based on web searches on current prices for flights, accommodation, in country travel and attraction/museum entrance fees, etc. I think I'm looking at anywhere between £5,000 - £8,000 to cover my costs for this dream vacation. So my goal for this fundraiser at the lower end of £5,000 (although the und my travel calculator is at the upper end). I know this is a lot of money, and I don't expect to raise all of this. I will be part funding this from the little savings I've managed over the years.
Additionally, I know that cabin crew work hard to keep us safe and comfortable, especially on long haul flights. As such I would like to thank them with gift cards to show my appreciation for their vital and excellent service and a portion of my travel funds will go towards this.
Thank you for visiting my page and reading. I will be eternally grateful for any help I get to achieve my travel dreams. Please share my page, and thank you once again.
