My Travel Story

by: paka Hans juergen Krause Start Date: Dec 2, 2024 - End Date: Jun 1, 2025
As a master's student specializing in Data Engineering, I am embarking on an exciting journey this summer to explore and research the diverse architectural styles across Europe. My focus will be on understanding the intricate differences in architectural designs and their historical contexts in some of the continent's most iconic cities: Rome, Venice, Spain, Budapest, England, Slovenia, and Portugal.

### The Purpose of My Journey

Architecture is not just about buildings; it tells the story of a culture, its values, and its history. By examining various architectural styles, I aim to draw connections between data engineering and architecture, exploring how data can enhance our understanding of historical and contemporary designs. This research will culminate in a detailed analysis that contributes to my academic work and offers insights into the evolution of architecture in Europe.

### Cities of Interest

- **Rome**: The eternal city, where ancient structures like the Colosseum and the Pantheon coexist with modern designs.
- **Venice**: Known for its unique canals and Gothic architecture, Venice is a living museum of architectural styles.
- **Spain**: From Gaudí's whimsical designs in Barcelona to the Moorish influences in Andalusia, Spain offers a rich tapestry of architectural diversity.
- **Budapest**: A city that showcases a mix of Gothic, Baroque, and Art Nouveau styles, reflecting its eclectic history.
- **England**: From the historical grandeur of Westminster Abbey to the modernist approaches of London’s skyline, England's architecture is both diverse and fascinating.
- **Slovenia**: With its blend of Alpine and Mediterranean influences, Slovenia presents a unique architectural identity.
- **Portugal**: Known for its Manueline style and azulejos, Portugal's architecture is a vibrant reflection of its maritime past.

### Funding My Research

To make this journey possible, I am seeking your support through fundraising. Your contributions will help cover travel expenses, accommodation, and resources for my research. Every donation, no matter the size, will play a crucial role in enabling me to capture the essence of these architectural wonders.

### How You Can Help

1. **Donate**: Any amount can make a difference.
2. **Share**: Spread the word about my journey and fundraising efforts on social media or within your networks.
3. **Engage**: Follow my progress on social media as I share insights, photos, and findings from my travels.

Thank you for considering supporting my journey. Together, we can explore the architectural marvels of Europe and contribute to a deeper understanding of the relationship between data and design.
