My Travel Story

In 2008 my spine broke at L2.  None of the surgeons in this province are familiar with my scoliosis and rare connective tissue disorder so off I am to go to the United States.  All the surgeons have been exhausted in Canada so the Medical Board in Alberta would like an American Surgeon to write their consult letter for surgery.  Asking for help is not  something that comes easy to myself.  While all my friends were saving for their golden years and putting their children through university I was working six jobs living in a church trying to save money after my husband passed.  There was no insurance money so it was a struggle.  My health suffered.  Many of the things that are taken  for granted like a good nights sleep, socializing with friends were no longer available.  I had to work and pay bills.  Seeking assistance outside of Canada is the only viable option at this point.  This will not affect my career as the work I do is contract and am not anyones employee as they do not want to pay benefits.
