My Travel Story

by: Nadia Dabiri Start Date: May 4, 2018 - End Date: Aug 31, 2018

Being a passionate lover of humans, culture, and learning, the SLV Sri Lanka mental health placement will be an opportunity of a lifetime for me and I would absolutely appreciate even the littlest bit of help towards getting there! After a long year of saving hard and studying, I will be traveling to Sri Lanka in January 2019 to work in institutions like psych wards and mental health care homes in order to help the individuals who suffer from mental health problems. I will be getting training whilst working in order to promote a healthy and positive well-being through a range of activities.

Nearly having finished my Psychology and Anthropology degree has motivated me to go on a mental health placement in 2019 to gain mental health experience with another culture and to help a community for the better! I will be carrying my qualities and skills that come with my biculturalism, empathy, and willingness to help others in order to promote well-being through activities and communication.

Along the help of other volunteers and professionals, I want to try my best to promote positive mental health by boosting confidence, self-esteem and life skills. I want to help create a healthy, long-lasting change for the people in Sri Lanka, and hopefully, carry the skills and experiences I learn in Sri Lanka to help other people around the world and help pursue my career.

This placement is unpaid and voluntary so I will be so gratified if you fundraised to help me on this journey, the journey of promoting contentment in other peoples lives. - Many thanks, Nadia
