Tactics in collective sports have long been studied to understand, amongst other issues, how decision-making happens, and extensively how can we make players make better decisions. Studies in this area of interest bring important knowledge to coaches and gives relevant orientations to improve teaching/learning tactics. Advances combine notions from many fields such as didactics, psychology, cognitive sciences, pedagogy, and physical education.
My personal progression in this area previously brought me to Brazil, and now send me to Portugal, where I aim to pursue a research project. This project consists in testing improved investigation methods, specifically on tactical knowledge in high performance soccer and on the way it is developed in training centres. This project will be realized in the context of a master degree in psychopedagogy and an international research internship.
The results of this project are expected to offer a better description of developing players’ tactical knowledge. Since these results will be obtained using psychological interventions, we seek to understand how these can be integrated in the formal training of promising soccer players.
The internship will be realized alongside experts at the Faculty of Sport of the University of Porto. The three months of daily research activities represent substantial expenses such as transportation, hosting, and other fees related to the stay and the investigation. Your contribution will be rewarded through mentions in social media posts, and exclusive offer of knowledge sharing in the form of private presentations.
