Hello my name is Faye and I am a health science student! Just today, I have been given the oppurtunity of a lifetime. I few weeks back, I signed up for this fellowship program in order to deepen my passion for medicine and thankfully, I got accepted! The Atlantis Program offered me an unforgettable chance to expand my understanding of medecine. At the age of 12, I lost my father to cancer, because of a doctor who couldn't care less about his well being. Once again, money overpowered. From that point on, I decided that no one else had to go through such a traumatic experience and this is why I've made it my mission to do whatever I could, in order to become a doctor and actually help people that are in need. No one should suffer the loss of a close one due to the incompetency of a health practician. When I first saw the Atlantis program, I was amazed of what it could offer me. I would be in hospitals 4 days a week, to learn, feel and aknowledge what being a doctor is really like. Since my mother raises me alone, she doesn't necessarily have the money to send me away for this program and honestly, I don't know what I would do if I can't go. This program is the chance of a lifetime and I wouldn't want to miss it. I know I won't be able to practie, but I know for a fact that this program àcan change my perception of the whole medical environment. People who need help deserve it, and maybe one day I'll get the chance to do so!
