Broke and I need to get to L.A.
My Travel Story
Economics is a major part of EVERYONE'S lives, as it's not always about money as it is about CHOICES. How many of us as adults look back with regret over some bad choices we made? Economics teaches how to choose more efficiently through cost-benefit analysis.
We also teach some financial literacy, which personally, I wish I had had when I was in high school. What's so special about this institute is that we learn CURRENT economic trends, which textbooks don't cover, and, even more interesting is that often there are visitors who present topics that are relevant to our students - music, fashion, gaming, etc.
The second picture in my profile is of a cool simulation that I learned at another Stanford Institute. See, it's NOT all about me, but what I can take to the classroom to help my students grasp economic concepts, often through a simulation. These "tricks of the trade" aren't on the Internet, nor can I ask ChatGPT; these types of cool lessons come from networking at events like this. So, my students get the best of two worlds: an educator who not only has extensive content knowledge, but also can make learning fun and meaningful.
I also take the time to visit with my mother, which is even more important now, since she is 77 years young and I'm her only child. We only see eachother when I can afford the flight home. She doesn't drive anymore, so she looks forward to when I visit and I have the funds to rent a car to take her around and visit relatives that neither of us have seen in a while.
Attending this institute will help me develop into a more confident and dynamic educator with an enthusiasm that I hope to pass on to many students. In fact, two of my former students won coveted internships in one of the world's top Business and Trading companies in the world as a result of their Economic savvy and great personalities. They, no doubt, will be major movers and shakers in the world of business.
By donating to my fund you will be helping to educate our youth on a global scale; my students come from all four corners of the Earth. Together we will eventually close the inequality gap.

Marshmallow Towers
Here my Econ students are racing to build the tallest and strongest tower made out of toothpicks and marshmallows. They have to collaborate to design and build, but they also have to stay within budget - they have to "buy" all the materials, and whatever is leftover, they have to pay for, and eating the marshmallows gets a penalty!
