My Travel Story

1. How will this impact your education or career?
Studying entrepreneurship in California will equip me with advanced knowledge, global insights, and practical skills to start and scale my own business. Being in a hub of innovation and business growth will expose me to world-class mentors, startup ecosystems, and cutting-edge strategies that I can apply when I return home. This experience will transform my career from aspiring entrepreneur to well-prepared business leader with a clear plan to own and operate a KFC franchise.

2. How will you make a difference in the community?
My goal is to bring back what I’ve learned to uplift my local South African community through job creation, skills development, and empowerment. A KFC franchise is more than just a restaurant—it’s a local employer, a training ground for youth, and a contributor to the local economy. I plan to offer internships, mentorship programs, and entry-level jobs to young people looking to grow. I want my business to be a place where people feel proud to work and grow.

3. Why are you passionate about this project?
I’ve always been passionate about business, food, and community development. KFC’s global impact and proven systems inspire me, but it’s the opportunity to create jobs, serve great food, and build something sustainable that truly drives me. This project combines my love for entrepreneurship with a brand I believe in—allowing me to grow personally and professionally while giving back.

4. Why did you choose this destination?
California is known as a global center for entrepreneurship, innovation, and education. It’s home to some of the best business schools and startup environments in the world. Being there will allow me to learn from successful entrepreneurs, attend world-class programs, and immerse myself in a culture of growth. I believe if I want to build a world-class business, I should learn in a world-class environment.

5. What makes this meaningful for you?
This journey is deeply personal. As someone from South Africa, I know how powerful entrepreneurship can be in changing lives. I want to be part of that change. Owning a KFC franchise is not just a business goal—it’s a pathway to independence, leadership, and impact. It means proving to myself and others that with the right mindset and education, we can build globally inspired businesses rooted in local communities.
