My Travel Story

I found out earlier today that I got accepted to an undergraduate research trip to Uzbekistan. Unfortunately, during the meeting, I was told that they only had funding for math majors-- which I am not (chemistry). This is my first research experience and I'm very eager to work in the lab with these professionals. So, if I want to go, I'll need to pay for the ticket, which ranges from $1500 to $3000, and the program funding ($3000). Altogether, I'm hoping for $1500.

Because I found out about the funding situation so late, I can't apply for many academic travel funding programs (though I will try my best). I will also not be getting a stipend like the other students with funding ($3500) and will therefore be solely working for the experience, not any money.

I plan on becoming a research neuroscientist and studying electrophysiology with one of the mentors in this program would be a great opportunity for me.  I'll also have the opportunity to learn Russian while there which makes this program amazing for me both professionally and personally.

I'll be working hard to try and get funding for this program, however, I am not super hopeful. Anything that I can get helps. Thank you all!
