My Travel Story

by: Alexa Tepley Start Date: Jul 17, 2014 - End Date: Nov 13, 2014
This project will provide a hands-on internship working with wildlife, livestock, and domestic animals!! I have always had the utmost love, respect, and passion for animals and all wildlife, and so, am studying to enter the field of veterinary sciences. Currently an undergraduate and biomedical health major, it is my dream is to receive my DVM. Unfortunately it is extremely competitive getting into vet school especially for exotic and large animal practice. I believe this once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to South Africa and assist in wildlife care, animal management, and animal welfare is exactly the experience I have been waiting for. Being an advocate for animal welfare, I am additionally extremely interested in the conservation efforts of South Africa and am excited to finally travel to such a beautiful place. The project is designed to give me professional experience in the fields of animal welfare, animal management and veterinary science.

Not only will this project help to propel my studies and career in veterinary medicine but it will also provide me with a rewarding volunteer experience I could never forget. It would mean the world to me to receive a donation to help me reach my dream and support animal welfare efforts in South Africa!!
