I'm Sarah, my Japanese pen pals and friends  call me サラちゃん (Sara Chan) I'm 34 and a housewife & stay at home mom to 5 children. I also make art in my spare time and document parts of my life on Instagram and YouTube for fun. I have many hobbies and interests, I especially enjoy language/cultural exchange, cooking, drawing and music (I love to sing although I'm not very good).

For the last several years, I've grown a profound interest in Japanese culture. It started with anime as a child and then progressed to music as an adult,  but continued with the realization of the kindness and beauty in the people and the Japanese way of life. It's become an every day part of my life; everyday I watch Japanese television and hear Japanese spoken language and music. I am self taught in Japanese language through immersion, apps and online friends. My heart has only grown more and more attached to Japan and the Japanese way of life. I've found small ways to incorporate Japan into my daily life; from celebrating special holidays, to cherry blossom viewing in my area, attending Japanese events and cooking Japanese food. My love for Japan is often reflected in my artwork as well.

I want desperately to see the country I fell in love with first hand and expirience the life I've watched on TV for myself. I've never left my country, or even flown on an airplane. I became a mom at the young age of 17 and have been stationary since. I now have big dreams however limited resources.

This is why I'm reaching out to you in hopes that you can help me make my dreams a reality. I hope to spend a few weeks in Japan and document the expirience on Instagram and YouTube. I believe that this experience will forever change me, spiritually.

I know that God has given me this passion and calling for some reason and I'd like to explore and find that reason. For years I've said "I can't do this" and "I'm needed at home" which is true, however, there will never be a perfect time. But If there is a will there is a way and I am so grateful that my husband is supporting me in this dream and will take over as caregiver in order for me to pursue this dream. I'm finally ready to visit Japan with my friend from Fukuoka and meet her family!

In closing; I hope I was able to convery my passion and true love for Japan. It is my desire to express just how much this trip would mean to me. Any contribution no matter how small can have a HUGE  impact on making this a reality. Thank you for your time and your support.
