Every year since high school, my best friends have taken the same annual trip. It’s our tradition. Our reset button. Our proof that somehow, despite adulthood, bills, and questionable life choices, we still show up for each other.




The last time I was able to go? 2017.

Yes, I’ve been spiritually present since then. Physically? Not so much.




Life happened. Money was tight. Responsibilities came first. And every year I watched from the sidelines as the group chat lit up with photos, inside jokes, and memories I swore I’d be part of again someday.




This May, they’re going on the trip again — and I want to surprise them by actually being there. No “maybe next year,” no FaceTime cameo. Just me, luggage in hand, like I never missed a beat.




This isn’t just a vacation. It’s about reclaiming joy, celebrating growth, and finally saying yes to something meaningful after years of putting myself last. Being able to go would mean reconnecting with the people who know me best and reminding myself that I’m allowed to enjoy the life I’ve been working so hard to build.
