My Travel Story

I will be heading out to Sri Lanka to spend six weeks volunteering with SLV Global, working within psychiatric hospitals using a number of different creative outlets to break past the language barrier and help those in recovery from mentall illness. Not only will I be working on mental health projects, but I will be helping to run activities for those with special needs and putting my TEFL qualification to use by teaching English to a wider Sri Lankan community. 

Mental illness is something which has both affected me personally and so many people around me (and many people around you, I'm sure). I am so excited to have the opportunity to take my own experiences and help make a difference to the lives of those suffering in a country where psychological support is still a massively underdeveloped resource.

I really would appreciate any help from you to help me make a difference to the lives of so many people suffering from a concept which is still so often neglected and misunderstood. I'm working full time and saving basically every penny to help me come out and do this, which will cost just over £2000. That being said, this is a huge amount of money and any help (no matter how teeny!) anybody can give me really would mean a lot to me - it is an amazing opportunity that I am so happy I will be able to experience.
