My Travel Story

My name is Bailie Burrhus and I have set up this scholarship fund to go towards my dream to study abroad. I am currently a Junior at Oklahoma State University studying Business Management. The trip that I have been accepted to is the Spring Break trip through Spears School of Business to Barcelona, Spain.

The course I will be taking during my time in Barcelona is BADM 4050: Doing Business in Spain. The career path I am set to go down into the corporate work force is becoming a Project Manager. Two of my biggest passions are being a mentor and leader to others. Any opportunity that I can take up to live out my passions during my time in college, I have. I am currently a Spears Peer Leader for the entire Spears School of Business, a Mentor for Mentor Collective to two transfer students, the Vice President of Spears Transfer Community, and involved in the LeadHERship Fellowship Program, as well as the Spears Mentoring Program. What onset my realization that I loved being of support to others as a mentor and leader, is when I served as a Community Mentor in the residential halls on campus, my sophomore year. I looked over 60-500 residents and loved it. I made great connections with my residents as a Community Mentor and loved getting to support them and ensure that I could assist them in having a successful and community-filled college career. This encouraged me to move forward with getting more involved on campus, because mentors are needed everywhere, and finding mentors for myself so I can can continuously improve my efforts at being a better mentor to others everyday. 

Having the opportunity to travel to Barcelona, Spain with Spears School of Business to study business in Spain would allow me to be a better mentor to more diverse populations of individuals and teams, as well as have a better outlook, perspective, and mindset when working with people in the college world and corporate work force. 

Any amount that you can donate to my scholarship fund to support my dream of studying abroad, I would be very much grateful for! It means the world to me to have the opportunity to go on this trip. For those that donate to my study abroad trip scholarship fund, I will be writing a newsletter, with pictures, about my time in Barcelona as a student and tourist. Here is what the money side of things look like.
Program fee: $2800 + $200 Study Abroad Admin Fee + Airfare

There are three installments:
December 12, 2022 - $1100
January 17, 2023 - $500
February 13, 2023 - $1100

Airfare is estimated to be $1600 roundtrip. 

Total comes to about $5000.
