My Travel Story

Every year, my church (Agape House of Worship, NJ) organizes a mission trip to the Caring Heart Orphanage in Uganda. The orphanage houses over 300 children between the ages of 2 and 18 years who are castaways, orphans, or victims of displacement (consequence of the military regime). Our group goes there with care kits (called Hope bags), which contain essentials like toiletries, underwear, sanitary cloths for the girls, books, and toys for the younger children. Our team includes a medical arm, which provides the form of physical wellness, the children will have access to for the year. We also conduct fun activities, like song and dance, as well as the Vacation Bible School (VBS), which is a learning experience for the children. This experience is not just empowering for the children but for the volunteers and missionaries as well. I went there for the first time last year, and I was deeply moved and transformed by the experience.
