My Travel Story

by: Ashley Norfleet Start Date: Feb 15, 2020 - End Date: Apr 30, 2020
I believe that artists and designers are collectors...some may collect images or trinkets, some may get inspiration from another artist who came before them, and others may use life experiences, like remembering their first heartbreak or traveling to a secluded island in the Philippines.

As artist we hold on to all of the things that inspire or evoke a powerful feeling or emotion within us. We file each of these things away for safekeeping, and when the time is right, we pull from our physical or mental catalogs and use these things and experiences as tools to enrich or beautify the world around us.

My name is Ashley Norfleet and I am an Interior Design student, living in Charlotte, NC. I have always imagined what it would be like to travel to a foreign country, to be able to bathe in an atmosphere rich in culture and deeply rooted in history.

I consider myself both an artist and a designer and as an Interior Design student, traveling to Greece will give me the kind of experiences that I can use and pull inspiration from for the rest of my life. It is an opportunity that for some people like myself, may only come once in a lifetime.

With your contributions to my study abroad program, I can make this life long dream a reality.

“To move, to breathe, to fly, to float, To gain all while you give, To roam the roads of lands remote, To travel is to live.”
