My Travel Story

by: Jade Brunt Start Date: Feb 26, 2018 - End Date: Jul 3, 2018

So, you want to know why out of everybody in the whole World, a Library Assistant is wanting to go and volunteer in South Africa for two weeks? Well, sit back, relax, and let me tell you my story.

Ever since a young age, I have always had a love for animals. I've always grown up with dogs, and currently have two beautiful dogs that I would do anything for. Animals have a way of making you feel good, and they make you want to give some good back to them, just like how they bring goodness to you. Especially since battling anxiety for the last few years, I owe so much to my dogs for getting me through these past few years. The panic attacks that they have helped me through just by being there to hug while I'm struggling to cope. They give me motivation to leave the house to walk them, socialise while out with other dog walkers, and they literally keep me going on a daily basis. I honestly think if it wasn't for them, and having amazing family and friends that I can rely on, I don't think I would be doing this right now.

So, why am I volunteering in South Africa?

Because my anxiety is telling me I can't. Because what better way to give back to these awe-inspiring animals, than to help keep them safe? Because for me, this is a once in a life-time opportunity, and I can't afford to go "What if?." I no longer want to live my life inside the four safe walls that my anxiety has built around me. I want to help make a difference, but I also want to give you the opportunity to help make a difference too.

Yes, you can help make a difference too!

If you can donate even just a small amount to this fundraiser, then you're making a massive difference!

I know that money is tight for some people, but that doesn't mean you can't help make a difference!

If you can share this fundraiser, help me spread the word, then you've already helped me and the animals in South Africa out so much!

I can't explain how much this trip means to me. It's linked with me personally in so many ways, the main thought is that I want to help make a difference with these animals. Will you help me achieve this, please?

Thank you for spending your time reading this. It honestly means so much to me. You can keep up to date with progress on my Facebook page - which is linked to this page!

1 Week down, £55 raised so far!
    Hi everyone!

So, it’s been 1 week since I made this fundraiser live, and I can’t believe that you’ve already helped to raise £55 so far! Yippee!

I know it’s still a long way off my target goal, however it’s a massive step in the right direction, and helps me feel more confident that this is going to happen!

So I want to say thank you to Graham & Pauline who very kindly sponsored me £10, your support means the World to me ❤️

I also want to say thank you to Ben, who has sponsored me £25 to give up Coca-Cola for a week! So today both the chocolate and the Coca-Cola challenge are overlapping, which has meant my lunch has looked a lot different today, (no chocolate or coke, how will I cope?!)

If you have any other sponsor ideas that you’d like to suggest, please feel free to message the Facebook page! Any feedback or advice will be greatly received!

Again, thank you for your continuing support, much love to you all!
  • No Chocolate For 7 Days... (More If More People Donate!)

No chocolate for 7 days... (More if more people donate!)
So, 15 minutes after posting my new fundmytravel page to go to South Africa, I received a £20 donation! Thank you so much Jeanette for donating, it really means the World to me!

Meaning that from today (27/2/18) I will be giving up chocolate for 1 week...

    *Cue dramatic music*

If you want to donate for me to give up chocolate for a longer period of time, hit that donate button and I'll keep you all posted on how long I have to give up chocolate for!

Currently, my re-allowed to eat date is 6th March 2018. If another person donates £20, this'll change to 13th March 2018, the more that donate, the longer the wait!

Again, thank you so much to everyone that has helped me with this so far. Check out my Facebook page to keep up-to-date with what's happening!
