My Travel Story

Hi, I'm Penny! I recently graduated high school and I'm taking a gap year during the 2024-2025 school year before starting a six-year medicine program in the UK. I'll be spending the fall working to save money for medical school, training to be an EMT, and volunteering at my local University's psychiatry department.

In the spring, I hope to embark on a travel program through EF Gap Year. This program will educate me on the different healthcare systems in Europe and teach me more about people from diverse backgrounds. I believe that understanding patients' cultural backgrounds and attitudes towards healthcare is essential to providing effective treatment. Especially as an American-raised future psychiatrist, connecting with European culture will prepare me to be a more compassionate and informed doctor.

The program cost is $19,500. With most of my savings going towards the impending cost of medical school, the program cost is difficult for me to afford.
