My Travel Story

by: Justice Welch Start Date: May 31, 2025 - End Date: Oct 7, 2025
My dream is to travel the world spreading positivity and helping as many people around the globe as possible. I am 19 years old and I come from a financially struggling family that predates many generations before I was brought into the world. With inheriting firsthand experiences so much earlier on in life of financial struggles, addiction problems, domestic violence and more, and there not being a lick of communication or reasoning in sight, I saw only one solution fit to resolve the problem; I eventually knew I had to walk away because not every problem is ours to solve. My father has a way of making people think they need him, or that they should like or fear him. He needs control. I spent money on what I believed to be a good cause (This did not personally affect him) and he kicked me out of his house for the second time (I was 18 years old).  He also continuously convinced me to work for him, although very rarely did he pay me on time or pay the amount he had promised, so I found myself jobless once again as well. With nowhere to go and little money to my name I found myself sleeping at different people's houses every other day once again, but this time things were different. At the ripe age of 18 I began to understand that even though I was dealt a pretty rough hand, I had no time to sit around feeling sorry for myself. I began searching for jobs and any way to make an honest bit of income. My fiancé has been with me through this whole process, and I couldn't be more thankful for her continuous support. She came from a similar upbringing and also found herself living from house to house with no real financial support or parental guidance. We have been together for the past eight months now, and together we have managed to secure two stable jobs and our own apartment in the city. Growing up my family told me I'd either end up in prison or on drugs someday, that I would never amount to anything. I don't communicate with 99% of my family these days. I am trying everyday to find a way to be better than the example that was set for me as a child, but I do find myself struggling financially. The next financial goal I have is to get us a reliable car for work, and with it we would even have more employment opportunities. I hope to be successful and wealthy someday so that I can give my soon to be wife and our future children a stable happy life- the one I only could have dreamt of as a child- and so I can contribute to the cause of helping children who grew up in situations similar to mine.
