My Travel Story

"She Didn’t Cry for Food—She Cried for a Pencil."
A True Story from Kibera’s Forgotten Streets

In Kibera, Kenya’s largest slum, the world moves fast—except for the children.
They wait.
For food.
For school.
For someone to remember them.

I met Achieng, just 10 years old, barefoot and wearing a dress that had more holes than fabric. Her smile was too bright for someone who had seen so much. I asked her what she wanted most in the world.

She didn’t say food.
She didn’t say toys.
She whispered, “A pencil… so I can write my name in school.”

She had been showing up to class every day without one. Sitting quietly. Watching others write while her small fingers traced invisible letters in the dust on the floor.

That moment shattered something in me.

We live in a world where so many children are hungry for opportunity, not just food. Where they’re not begging for gadgets or vacations—just a chance. A chance to learn. To matter. To be more than a statistic from a forgotten slum.

This campaign is not just about funding my travel—it's about breaking the silence around children like Achieng. I am going to Kibera to serve, support, and amplify their voices, but I can’t do it alone.

Just a photo of me while on voulnteer work in Thailand
During my time in Thailand, I volunteered at an ethical elephant sanctuary where I helped care for rescued elephants. My work included feeding, preparing food, and supporting daily care routines. It was an unforgettable experience that taught me about animal welfare and the importance of protecting these gentle giants.

Let *s give them hope again
They deserve a better tomorrow. A future where they have the tools, support, and opportunities to grow, learn, and live with dignity. Every child in this photo matters. Every one of them deserves the chance to chase their dreams—just like any child, anywhere in the world.
