My Travel Story

Hi!
My name is Devin and I'll be spending the final semester of my undergraduate degree at a university in Australia. After this semester abroad I will officially have two bachelors degrees, a History degree and an Art/Art History degree! I'm super excited to go to Melbourne for a little over four months and I can't wait to experience everything that the city and the university has to offer. I'm looking forward to the history and art history classes that I will be taking and I know that the city is full of amazing cultural sites and events, art galleries, and museums.

While in Melbourne I would like to spend some time volunteering at one of the many art galleries as I would like to one day have a career in a gallery setting and it would be very useful for me to get some experience wherever I can. I am also hoping to find a part-time job so I can have a bit of an income to fund some of the travelling that I would like to do.

I would really like to visit Sydney and travel to Auckland if possible, but I have also heard from a number of people that I should go to Byron Bay and Rottnest Island. Those four locations are my top four, specifically Sydney and Byron Bay, but since I'm travelling to the other side of the planet I would like to see as much as possible while I am there.

Visiting Sydney and Auckland would give me more opportunities to learn about art and culture in and around Australia, which could be very beneficial to me for future studies and career options. As an art history student any information on arts and culture is important to me and it is best to get the information from its source, where I can interact with it and the people who truly know it. I plan on visiting every art gallery in Melbourne over my four month stay and I would absolutely love the opportunity to see museums and galleries in different cities as well.

If you are able to help me get to new cities where I can experience their arts and culture firsthand I would be very grateful. I am going on this trip so that I can learn more about the world, and in turn teach other people about it. I have a thirst for knowledge and I am passionate about sharing my knowledge with others, especially concerning subjects like the arts, which most people do not concern themselves with.
