I have the immense privledge of studying Japanese and English and the Univeristy of Missouri where I am preparing for a career in education and translations. With this It is my greatest dream to visit the islands of this wonderfully storied nation and I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to consider assisting my in this goal. 

But to tell you the truth, I cannot do this on my own. 

I have applied to the Japan Center for Michigan Universities where I will participate in one-on-one interactions with locals in a language intensive program, aimed at fluency. Learning about the culture, the language, the cuisine, alongside locals will allow me to build a healithy and genuine understanding of modern Japan while exploring the rich traditions of an extraordinary past. 

Ultimately I long to teach, to teach English in Japan and to translate ancient literary texts, from poetry to narratives.

Upon completion of this program I will use my experience to share with others the gifts that have been granted to me and work to foster mutual understanding between East and West. Between the United States and Japan. As an ambassador of peace, a champion of compassion.

I've launched a website where I will share the experience with you. Through a series of blogs I will present the places, the people, the path to achieving these goals. 

Phase 2 will follow! After my research I will compile my findings and experiences into a book about the language, food, and literature of Japan. How they interact and how you might interact with them. Including recipes and stories about all the wonderful shenanigans along the way.
