My Travel Story

After experiencing homelessness earlier this year and surviving more than 15 years of it in the past, I never imagined I’d be this close to a fresh start. Life hasn’t been easy. I’ve lived through shelters, instability, and the daily fight to survive. But through it all I never stopped working, healing, or believing that something better was possible.

Today that possibility is real.

I’ve been offered a full-time position as a graphic designer at a startup in Atlanta, Georgia, a dream opportunity that aligns with both my passion and my future. This job represents more than just a paycheck. It’s a chance to reclaim dignity, create stability, and finally break the cycle that has held me back for so long.

We’ve sacrificed nearly everything to make this move possible. We’ve sold all our belongings, scraped together every penny we could, and we now have enough to cover one train ticket and a few weeks in a hotel while I begin work and secure a permanent place to live.

But we’ve hit one last barrier.
We only have enough for one train ticket, and there are two of us making this journey. The second ticket costs $158, and we’re hoping to raise just $200 total to cover that plus a few basic essentials like food for the road, luggage fees, or an Uber to get to the hotel when we arrive.

We’re not asking for much, just the last little bit of support we need to take this final step.

We’ve come so far from where we were. We’re not looking for a handout, just a hand up, a chance to move forward with stability, purpose, and pride. If you can contribute anything, even just $5, or share this with someone who might be able to help, it would mean the world to us.
