Help Me Study Abroad in Japan
My Travel Story
My name is Jakob and I'm a student at the University of South Alabama (Go Jags!) studying to become a history teacher. I've been blessed with the opportunity to study abroad in Japan as part of a program that will help me continue my academic journey while developing my skills as an educator.
The trip will take us across the country to Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto where we will visit museum, temples, and historical sites to learn about the courtier and noble culture of Japan from more than 1,000 years ago. Through this program I hope to not only gain an understanding of Japanese history but develop skills and have experiences that will help me become a better educator. This trip would provide an amazing opportunity to broaden my cultural sensitivity and help me approach historical teaching from multiple viewpoints.
I got my first opportunity to travel abroad on a volunteer medical trip to Honduras, and since then I’ve been eager to travel internationally again. Traveling to Japan has been a dream of mine since I was a little boy, which makes this opportunity especially meaningful. Any support goes a long way in helping make this trip possible. Thank you all so much for helping me take advantage of this opportunity.
