My Travel Story

I am a 62-year-old man who is a Type 2 Diabetic and am a parcel amputee of my foot and am suffering with degenerating eye disease. It is because of this that I can no longer work in my profession and am forced to survive on SSI in the amount of $914.00 monthly and at the rate of inflation and costs forever soaring it is nearly impossible to make ends meet. Other than my SSI benefits, I have no other income or source in which I can depend on to reach my monthly challenges. I have no savings or nothing of any value to sell to assist me with my financial situation. I have tried to start an online business to generate an income just to discover that many of these business that are advertised are just wanting to sell their information or training in which are too expensive for me to purchase.

On August 13, 2023, I found myself in the emergency room as I was having severe shortness of breath. They administered me something to help me relax and I woke up in recovery whereas they had to put 4 stents in my heart. After spending 4 days in the hospital, I was released with medications. 3 days later I collapsed at home and was rushed to the ER by ambulance and from there airlifted by helicopter to the neighboring city’s hospital in which I woke up in a room with my arms strapped to the bed. The blood thinner that the cardiologist put me on caused me to bleed internally and I had lost 4 pints of blood. After a week in the hospital, I was released and have not returned to the hospital since. However, I now have multiple doctor appointments with various types of specialists. I have 3 to 4 appointments per week now and this is where my financial problems really started. I am now dealing with other major and death threateng illness such as kidney problems, lower intestinal and GI issues, liver and prostate problems.

This is my situation.... I presently live with my brother and his wife. I am renting a small 12’ X 16’ room which includes bathroom privileges and kitchen access when they aren’t home. He is charging me $725.00 monthly for the room which is below the going price to rent an apartment. I am using state aided transportation to get to my appointments and from where I live, it is not dependable. As far as transportation to get medicines or groceries is concerned, I must pay someone out of pocket to take me as I don’t have any transportation of my own. I stay in my room unless I go to the doctors and live alone. They stay to themselves as I do the same. I am not married but am engaged to a wonderful woman who lives in the Philippines. I had planned to move there and then Covid hit and stopped all travel. During this time is when my health issues came to surface. I am still praying that I can be with her soon and we can live our life together.

The entire process to travel there will take about 3 months and will cost about $4000.00 in total. I am hoping this plea for assistance falls on caring ears and can help me with this plight. Thank you in advance and God Bless.

The entire process to travel there will take about 3 months and will cost between $3500.00 and $4000.00 in total.
