Hello everyone!

We're a family of 4. Mum, dad, 11 year old sister and 1 year old brother.

For many years we'd been dreaming to travel the world together and November last year (2017) we all made the joint decision to take the big leap and chase our dreams.

I was able to find a job that allowed me to work remotely from my laptop computer and we had enough of a cushion in savings to get us on our way.

So we took our daughter out of school, put some essential belongings in storage after selling or giving most of them away, ended our lease and gave ourselves a year to see as much of the world as we possibly could.

Our daughter dreamt of seeing the leaning tower of Pisa and the Eiffel Tower in Paris. My wife (of English and Welsh background) had been desperately desiring for years to return to the UK and share her love of the place with all of us; and I have been dreaming since I was 13 to just leave it all behind (even if only for some time) and be a nomad. 

So far we've been to the Dominican Republic where we mainly visited family and said a final farewell to my grandmother who recently passed away. Then we went to the United States, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We took our daughter to Disney World and Universal Studios (to see Harry Potter world. She's a big fan). Both of these were high on her bucket list. We visited a total of 5 states and many cities/towns. We also went to many wonderful museums such as The Met (we went two days back-to-back) The Philadelphia Art Museum, The Princeton Museum, The Guggenheim plus others.

An important part of this trip is the world schooling component of it as well, as we also felt during this year our daughter would be able to experience art, culture and history from around the world first hand which is an experience she won't get in a classroom. 

However, after having said all this, everything was more expensive than we expected it and to top it I also lost my job, as the company I was working for folded. So all these precipitous events left us in quite an awkward situation. As we had already booked a flight for Madrid and were well into this adventure, we have decided to keep going and trust that everything will work out.

We're currently in Spain, with a very limited budget to continue our travels. Yet, we have come so far (all the way from Australia), and are now in Europe, and at the same time so close to seeing and experiencing the things that inspired us to do this journey. We feel we can't give up now and we're asking you to help us finish realise this dream, especially now that we are so close!

We are planning to return to Australia and finish our journey sometime in November. That will be a year, which is what we gave ourselves. We would like to do a lot more but at least, as we're in Europe, we would like to see as much of the continent as possible. The top destinations on our list are London, Edinburgh, Dublin, Barcelona, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Vienna, Prague, Florence/Pisa, Athens, Copenhagen. There are a lot more places we would add to our list, but those are the very top (though in no particular order). We think of these as the "basic package". There are more in our list but it all depends on what our budget allows. Depending on the amount and how quickly our budget increases based on your donations we may be able to add more destinations. 

I have crunched some rough numbers and we think that from here to November if we can raise US$20,000 we should be able to at least cover our "basic package" by the time we return to Australia.

We've uploaded an assortment of photos and videos of our trip so far so you get a feel of what we have done, and hopefully with your help we'll be able to continue on this journey until we've reached our goal.
