My Travel Story

Hi! Hammond art students are planning an arts and culture travel experience in summer 2025. Part educational, part immersive cultural exchange, students will learn how to navigate new places, become more independent as young adults, practice smart budgeting, and see world-art in person. Our first destination is Rome, Italy! From Rome, we will travel to Florence , Milan, and finally to Paris, France, where we will tour the Eiffel Tower, the Latin Quarter, and cruise down the River Seine.

Every attending student has shown dedication to learning about and experiencing the world beyond their immediate community. Our fundraising efforts go directly to making a 10-day tour of Italy and France a reality for my students at Hammond, many of whom are thrilled to travel abroad for the very first time. 

I am driven to make this invaluable experience a reality for as many of my students as possible because I also was blessed to travel abroad in high school. Learning how to navigate airports, find my way around new cities, interact with people whose langauge I did not know, meander through galleries of art and try new foods ALL helped shape me into a global citizen. The opportunity to pass on this experience to a new group of young people is SO special - and I hope you feel as excited as I do to help us reach our fundraising goals.

The total funds raised through this campaign will be distributed equally to lower the overall program costs for all attending students.
