My Travel Story

by: Teja Burgess Start Date: Feb 11, 2022 - End Date: Jun 5, 2022
Irish culture has been a big part of my life ever since I was a little girl. My family is from there and we are very connected to our roots. When I found out that my local Junior College was going to have the chance to explore Dublin, Galway, and Belfast while there, I jumped at the chance to join. While I am in Dublin, I will be staying at the historic Trinity College with ample access to the library and the Book of Kells. In Galway, I will be visiting the Aran Islands, the Cliffs of Moher, and spend a day on a farm shearing sheep, making Irish Soda Bread, and bog jumping. Finally, in Belfast, we will be going to the Free Derry Museum and getting an in-depth look at the political history in Northern Ireland. The classes that are going to be taught on the trip are a Photography course and an Irish literature course. This is something that I am so excited about because it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a part of. This trip is also designed so that we participants have free time to explore and immerse ourselves in the culture of Ireland. There also aren't many scholarships available for the course because it is a summer program, so I will need help with the program fees, tuition costs, course supplies, airfare expenses, and money to buy food and groceries while there. Any donations are greatly appreciated.
