My Travel Story

Being born in Jamaica I was surrounded by poverty but yet all I saw was so much beauty in this little island. I am so grateful for overcoming social and ecomonic impacts to be where I am at today. My story is one woven with threads of unwavering determination and profound sacrifice, beginning with our grandparents. With little more than their will, they worked tirelessly to send all 12 of their children to America, understanding that education and opportunity were the keys to a better future.

I will never forget where I came from or the humble beginnings that shaped me. That's why I'm embarking on a volunteer trip to Jamaica, driven by a deep desire to give back and help children currently living in poverty. I want to share the lessons my family taught me—the incredible strength that comes from facing adversity, the importance of dreaming big, and the belief that coming out of poverty is not just a dream, but a tangible possibility. My goal is to be a beacon of hope and empowerment for these children, helping them cultivate the resilience they'll need to navigate their own paths.

From my years of working with children in the medical field, I intimately understand the critical value of addressing mental health needs and supporting those with developmental delays from a young age. These are the foundational elements that profoundly impact a child's well-being and their trajectory in life. I’ll be working directly with children who need support in these areas, helping them cultivate the mental fortitude and self-belief that will make all the difference. I will be screening children for mental health issues, engage them in conversations about wellbeing, and helping to develop their emotional and physical intelligence.

As you know, our family's story is one of incredible strength and perseverance. I'm hoping you'll consider supporting me on this journey. I will be covering my travel and accommodations expeses, but I am hoping for your support in rasing money for childhood development and training/supplies/program fee for this campaign.
